WW2 German Field Telephone Equipment… Großer Feldklappenschrank Amtszusatz

A previous article discussed Großer Feldklappenschrank (large field switchboard) specialized modules, including the three rotary dial Amtszusatz module. This module was used to connect the switchboard to outside automatic exchange lines.

The Amtszusatz module was connected to the outside lines via a 30 conductor socket (30 tlg. Buchsenstreifen). This socket was located on the rear of the module. The socket consist of 10 columns (1 – 10) with 3 rows (a -c) per column.

Although the cable has 30 conductors, only the sockets in columns 1 through 3, rows a, b, and c are wired into the Amtszusatz. Only rows a and b are used to connect with the three ZB (zentralbatterie betrieb) automatic exchange lines on the cable’s terminal strip.
